![]() *When it REALLY starts to kick in a few minutes after, I have slurred speech and forgetfulness *Get a mild "Drugged" feeling. *I get slight cotton mouth when it starts to kick in. Just subtly at something you try to focus on. Kinda like when you trip on mushrooms but by no means overwhelming. Side effects: *About 30 minutes my vision got a bit blurry *Also morphed my vision a bit. I toss and turn, checking the time for 5 hours without a wink of sleep, then give up and get ready for work. Soooo-Went to my doctor mainly about the anxiety that develops when I try to sleep. I was eventually diagnosed with interstitial cystitis (chronic bladder pain that doesn't have a cure)- guess who caused that? The mild dry-mouth paired with the increased anxiety (which caused me to grind my teeth more at night) slowly gave way to gum recession over time as well, and my teeth have turned a yello After a year or so, I began getting UTIs and having persistent, unexplained bladder pain as well as strange inflammation. ![]() Yes, I was predisposed to anxiety, but Ambien eventually started triggering full blown attacks and slowly worsening daily anxiety. Slowly, over time, the long-term devastating effects began to surface. At first, I had no side effects and it seemed to be working like magic. Never in my life had I fallen asleep so fast and slept so well. Unfortunately, my terrible time with sleeping made Ambien seem like a miracle at first. I have horrible chronic insomnia and my entire life before being introduced to Ambien involves hours upon painful hours of trying to sleep before actually falling asleep- followed by annoyingly frequent waking and more trouble going back to sleep. I have been taking Ambien regularly for about 6 years. I found that I was eatting food to stay awake (oddly enough) to finish watching a program, or reading to the end of a chapter. Over the years I have found that you need to go straight to bed after taking it - no TV, lights out not even reading. I still love the medication have tried to get off of it by using other meds but cannot get the sound sleep I get from Ambien. ![]() Citing new findings of women getting in car accidents the morning after taking, studies linking it to Alzheimer’s Disease. couldn't believe the dose I was on and we agreed I would reduce it. My old psychiatrist retired and my new Dr. I was on a high dosage 20 mg everynight - I did get up and would cook food and eat it and had weird conversations with family and not remember. I suffered from horrible insomnia and had tried everything - relaxation, cutting out caffeine, increased activity during the day, melatonin, benadryl and the medications they first give you restoril, trazadone, finally ambien. In all honesty I would not recommend this to anyone. Let me say this, 1I have never driven drunk, hold an extremely good job, and have always been a good citizen, heck I'm 59 yrs old and have never gotten into a fight, ever. I believe this would have happened if I took cold medicine with alcohol in it. I definitely did not drink enough to blow a bad blood alcohol test, but apparently this stuff is way to dangerous. I finally found out they got me not 1000' from my hotel. The next thing I know, I was being arrested for DUI, and, resisting arrest WO violence, yet my wrists are cut up, swollen, along with my upper arm and neck. I didn't think nothing of it because I was going right back to the room and go to sleep. I took all of my meds which involve mostly heart related meds, including the ambien. We had to move my daughter out of her dorm by 3:30 the next day and head back to Stuart. Was going to grab one drink for us in the hotel lobby and go to sleep. I went across state in Florida from Stuart to Ft. A month or so I had no real issues with this med. I just recently started taking this for insomnia, which I believe is due to severe work related stress.
